What are the basics of investing in stocks and how do I get started?
Stock investing is one of the most interesting aspects of the market. As the name suggests, it deals with shares of companies. You buy the shares, which are really small pieces of ownership of the company, rather than actual shares in the actual company if you will. This helps to minimize risks and allows you to control the company, but with lower financial responsibilities.
Where can I buy stock shares?
You can buy stock shares, or stocks, through most brokers or other brokers that you have opened an account with. Your choice depends on what you are comfortable with the broker.
Is there an actual cost for buying stock shares?
Most stockbrokers on both the trading floor and over the phone will charge you a few dollars for trading stocks. However, these may be negotiable if you have experience in stock investing and are ready to pay higher rates to get better services.
What should I know before I get started?
There are so many things to do before buying stocks. Read a couple of books on the basics of stock investing. Check the financial statement of the company you want to buy stock shares from. It would help you to know the financial status of the company. Also, look for the history of the company. Find out what the company has to offer the public, and compare it to the present situation of the company. Find out what their plans are for the next several years. What are their strategies to succeed? How are they going to tackle the changing market conditions? Look at their revenue, employees, debt, and profit. Compare all these to compare different companies.
